no-gos

Off the table

No-gos are things that are forbidden, unacceptable, or off-limits.

The term comes from areas designated as restricted: The back office is a no-go for customers.

More broadly, no-gos are rules about what's not permitted: Discussing politics at family dinners is one of our no-gos.

Something can also be a no-go when it simply won't work or can't happen: The outdoor wedding is a no-go—it's supposed to rain.
