new-fangled

Overly modern, perhaps

New-fangled describes something recently invented or adopted, usually with a hint of skepticism or dismissiveness.

The word implies the speaker finds the novelty unnecessary or suspects it won't prove as useful as older methods: I don't trust these new-fangled gadgets, new-fangled ideas about child-rearing.

Often used by those resistant to change, or ironically by those mocking such resistance.
