Nepo is informal shorthand for nepotism—the practice of favoring relatives or friends, especially in hiring.
It appears most often in nepo baby, describing someone whose career success stems from family connections rather than merit: She's a nepo baby—both her parents are movie stars.
The term carries a dismissive edge, implying unearned advantage.
