nasal sounds
Sounds through nose
Nasal sounds are speech sounds produced with air flowing through the nose rather than the mouth.
In English, the consonants m, n, and ng are nasal.
The term also describes voice quality when someone speaks "through their nose"—whether from congestion, anatomy, or regional accent: She has a nasal voice.
Nasality can suggest whining or complaining: Stop that nasal whining.
