nail plates
Timber joining hardware
Nail plates are the hard, translucent keratin structures that form the visible surface of fingernails and toenails—what most people simply call the nail.
In construction, nail plates are flat metal connectors with perforated holes or integral prongs, used to join wooden members in framing: The trusses were secured with nail plates at each joint.
