mustered in
Joined the military
Mustered in means formally enrolled into military service.
When troops are mustered in, they're officially inducted—examined, sworn in, and recorded on the rolls: The regiment was mustered in at Fort Monroe in August 1862.
The opposite is mustered out, discharged from service.
Both phrases derive from muster's older sense of assembling troops for inspection.
