muntjac
Small Asian deer
A muntjac is a small deer native to South and Southeast Asia, distinguished by its short antlers and prominent canine tusks in males.
Also called barking deer for their loud, dog-like alarm calls.
Several species exist, some now established as invasive populations in England: We spotted a muntjac in the hedgerow.
