multigenerational home
Grandparents under one roof
A multigenerational home is a residence where three or more generations live together—typically grandparents, parents, and children under one roof.
The arrangement may be cultural tradition, economic necessity, or caregiving strategy: They converted the basement into an apartment for her parents.
The term also describes houses designed with separate living quarters for extended family.
