house share
Splitting living quarters
A house share is a living arrangement where multiple people rent rooms in the same dwelling, typically splitting costs while maintaining separate lives.
Unlike roommates who move in together, house shares often involve strangers matched through listings: I found a house share near campus for half what a studio would cost.
The term is more common in British than American English.
