movie soundtracks
Cinema's musical accompaniment
Movie soundtracks are the musical recordings accompanying films, either the original score composed for the picture or a compilation of songs featured in it.
The term covers both the audio as experienced in the theater and the album released separately: The soundtrack won an Oscar, I bought the soundtrack after seeing the movie.
A film's soundtrack often outlives the film itself in cultural memory.
