mottlings
Patchy color variations
Mottlings are irregular patches or spots of different colors or shades on a surface.
The term describes the pattern itself—the blotches and variations that make something mottled: The mottlings on the old photograph showed its age.
Skin mottlings can indicate circulatory problems; leaf mottlings may signal disease or nutrient deficiency.
