mother's helper
Household support person
A mother's helper is someone, typically a young person, who assists with childcare and light household tasks while a parent remains home.
Unlike a nanny or babysitter, a mother's helper works alongside the parent rather than taking full responsibility: We hired a mother's helper so I could get some work done while someone entertained the kids.
The term also applies to medications or devices marketed to ease parenting burdens.
