moth holes
Sweater storage casualties
Moth holes are small holes chewed in fabric by the larvae of clothes moths, which feed on wool, silk, and other natural fibers.
The damage typically appears in stored clothing or textiles left undisturbed: I pulled out my winter sweater and found it full of moth holes.
The term sometimes describes any similar damage to fabric, regardless of cause.
