morning rounds
Early patient visits
Morning rounds are the daily visits physicians make to hospitalized patients, typically early in the day.
In teaching hospitals, attending doctors lead teams of residents and medical students from bed to bed, reviewing cases, examining patients, and discussing treatment plans.
The practice is so routine that rounds alone usually implies the morning version: The intern grabbed coffee before rounds.
