mock test
Rehearsal for assessment
A mock test is a practice examination that simulates the real thing—same format, timing, and conditions, but without the stakes.
Students take mock tests to prepare for standardized exams, identify weak areas, and reduce anxiety: I'm taking a mock test this weekend before the bar exam.
Also called a practice test or, in British usage, a mock.
