missed note
Singer's small error
A missed note is a note played incorrectly or not played at all during a musical performance—either hitting the wrong pitch, coming in at the wrong time, or failing to sound when intended.
Musicians speak of missing notes during difficult passages: I missed a few notes in the cadenza.
The term extends to any small but noticeable error in an otherwise competent performance.
