mental fatigue
Cognitive energy depletion
Mental fatigue is the exhaustion that comes from sustained cognitive effort—thinking, concentrating, or making decisions over extended periods.
Unlike physical tiredness, it affects focus and mental sharpness rather than muscle strength: After hours of editing, mental fatigue set in and I started missing obvious errors.
The condition impairs judgment and motivation, making even simple tasks feel effortful.
