Heat-set hair ripples
A marcel wave is a deep, regular wave pattern in hair, created using heated curling irons.
The style was popular from the 1890s through the 1930s, giving hair a distinctive S-shaped ripple: Her hair was set in marcel waves for the period film.
The technique is named after French hairdresser François Marcel.
