Flat ironing is the process of straightening hair using a flat iron—a heated styling tool with two flat plates that clamp together.
The hair passes between the hot plates, which temporarily break hydrogen bonds in the hair shaft to eliminate curl or wave: I spent an hour flat ironing my hair before the interview.
