mad man
One who raves
A mad man is a man who is insane, deranged, or wildly irrational.
The phrase emphasizes the person's gender in a way the single word "madman" doesn't always: Some mad man was screaming on the corner.
The two-word form often carries more literal weight—actual insanity rather than mere recklessness or unconventional thinking.
