long-range forecast
Distant weather prediction
A long-range forecast is a weather prediction extending days or weeks into the future, typically beyond seven days.
These forecasts grow less reliable the further out they reach, dealing more in general patterns than specific conditions: The long-range forecast shows a wet month ahead.
The term applies beyond meteorology to any prediction about distant future events: long-range economic forecasts.
