long-distance hiking
Multi-day trail walking
Long-distance hiking is walking extended trails over multiple days or weeks, typically carrying supplies and camping along the way.
The term usually applies to trails of at least 50 miles, though the most famous—the Appalachian Trail, Pacific Crest Trail, Continental Divide Trail—span thousands.
Those who complete an entire trail end-to-end are called thru-hikers: She spent six months long-distance hiking from Georgia to Maine.
