lit up

Glowing with joy

Lit up describes something illuminated or brightened: The Christmas tree lit up the whole room.

A face that lights up shows sudden joy or excitement: Her eyes lit up when she saw the puppy.

Informally, lit up means intoxicated by alcohol or drugs: He was pretty lit up by midnight.

To light someone up is to attack them verbally or physically, or in sports, to score heavily against them.
