liquefied natural gas

Supercooled fuel cargo

Liquefied natural gas is natural gas cooled to extremely low temperatures (around -260°F) until it becomes liquid, reducing its volume for easier storage and transport.

Commonly abbreviated LNG, it's shipped in specialized tankers to markets without pipeline access: The terminal receives liquefied natural gas from Qatar.

Once delivered, it's regasified for distribution.
