lie detectors
Interrogation room equipment
Lie detectors are devices that measure physiological responses—heart rate, blood pressure, breathing, skin conductivity—while a person answers questions, on the theory that lying produces detectable stress.
The polygraph is the most common type.
Their reliability is disputed, and results are generally inadmissible in court, though they're still used in criminal investigations and employment screening.
