legendary artist

A legendary artist is a creative figure whose work and reputation have achieved enduring fame, often transcending their era.

The phrase implies someone whose influence is so significant that their name carries mythic weight: Picasso remains a legendary artist whose innovations still shape modern painting.

The term appears frequently in obituaries, retrospectives, and promotional materials—sometimes applied genuinely to towering figures, sometimes inflated for marketing purposes.
