legatos

Smooth musical passages

Legatos is the plural of legato, a musical term for notes played smoothly and connectedly, without breaks between them.

The opposite of staccato.

A pianist might practice several legatos in a passage, or a composer might mark different legatos throughout a piece to indicate where phrases should flow uninterrupted.
