Leg pads are protective gear worn on the lower legs, most commonly in cricket and ice hockey.
Cricket leg pads—also called batting pads—shield the shins from fast-moving balls; hockey goalie pads are larger and block pucks.
The term extends to similar protection in other sports: She strapped on her leg pads before stepping up to bat.
