lean towards
Tend to prefer
To lean towards something is to favor it without full commitment—a tentative preference or inclination: I'm leaning towards the vegetarian option, She's leaning towards accepting the job offer.
The phrase suggests the mind tilting in a direction while remaining open to alternatives.
