laying about

Sprawled doing nothing

Laying about means lounging idly or being lazy, typically sprawled in a relaxed position without any productive purpose.

I spent the whole Sunday laying about the house in my pajamas.

In British usage, to lay about can also mean to strike out wildly in all directions, as in a fight: He laid about with his fists until security arrived.
