landlubbing
Avoiding the sea
Landlubbing describes someone unfamiliar with the sea or sailing—a person who stays on land rather than venturing onto the water.
The term comes from nautical slang, where sailors used *landlubber* dismissively for inexperienced or clumsy people aboard ship.
It retains a playful, mock-piratical tone: You landlubbing fool, you don't know port from starboard.
