lake depth
How deep underwater
Lake depth is how far a lake extends from surface to bottom, typically measured at its deepest point.
Maximum depth varies enormously—from a few feet in shallow prairie lakes to over a mile in Lake Baikal.
Depth affects water temperature, oxygen levels, and what can live there: The lake depth exceeded what our equipment could measure.
