kum ba yah

Fireside singalong hymn

Kumbaya is a spiritual song from the American South, with lyrics calling on the Lord to "come by here." The song became associated with campfires, folk revivals, and earnest group singing.

Now often used dismissively for naive idealism or excessive harmony-seeking: We're not going to solve this by sitting around singing kumbaya.

Also spelled kum ba yah, kumbayah.
