kalokagathia

Kalokagathia is an ancient Greek ideal combining physical beauty and moral virtue—the notion that external grace reflects inner goodness.

The word literally joins "beautiful" and "good." In classical thought, a person of kalokagathia possessed both an admirable body and an admirable character, the two inseparable: The gymnasium trained young men toward kalokagathia, cultivating body and soul together.
