jpeg compression
Blocky artifact source
JPEG compression is a method of reducing image file size by discarding visual information the human eye is less likely to notice.
It works by analyzing blocks of pixels and simplifying color transitions, which is why heavily compressed JPEGs show blocky artifacts, especially around sharp edges.
The format allows adjustable quality levels—higher compression means smaller files but more visible degradation: I had to lower the JPEG compression to keep the text readable.
