joint degree
Two-program credential earned
A joint degree is an academic program offered collaboratively by two or more institutions, resulting in a single credential from all participating schools: She earned a joint degree from Columbia and Sciences Po.
The term also describes combined programs within one institution that merge two fields—such as an MD/PhD or JD/MBA—allowing students to pursue both simultaneously rather than sequentially.
