joint accounts
Coupled banking arrangement
Joint accounts are bank accounts or credit accounts shared by two or more people, typically spouses or business partners.
Each holder can deposit, withdraw, or manage funds independently.
The arrangement simplifies shared expenses but means all parties are equally liable: We opened a joint account when we got married.
Upon one holder's death, ownership typically passes to the survivor.
