A jam roll is a British dessert made by spreading jam on a flat sheet of sponge cake, then rolling it into a cylinder.
Also called Swiss roll or jelly roll (in American English).
The spiral cross-section when sliced is distinctive: She served thin slices of jam roll with tea.
