intro sequence

Show's beginning part

An intro sequence is the opening segment of a video game, television series, or film that plays before the main content begins.

In games, it typically combines cinematic footage, title cards, and music to establish tone and story: I always skip the intro sequence when I replay.

TV intro sequences—also called title sequences or opening credits—introduce the show's premise and cast, often becoming iconic in their own right.
