insectoids
Creatures resembling insects
Insectoids are creatures resembling insects—whether alien beings in science fiction, humanoid characters with compound eyes and exoskeletons, or robots designed with insect-like features.
The term appears most often in speculative fiction and gaming: The insectoids swarmed the colony ship.
As an adjective, insectoid describes anything bug-like in appearance or movement: insectoid drones, an insectoid clicking sound.
