income limit

Maximum allowed earnings

An income limit is a threshold that determines eligibility for programs, benefits, or housing.

Government assistance, subsidized apartments, and certain tax credits set income limits—earn above them and you don't qualify: The income limit for the program is $50,000 for a family of four.

Some programs have upper and lower limits, creating income bands.
