ice arenas
Indoor skating facilities
Ice arenas are enclosed buildings with refrigerated ice surfaces for skating, hockey, and other ice sports.
The term emphasizes the sporting venue aspect—where competitions and practices happen—rather than recreational skating.
Most ice arenas have seating for spectators and facilities for teams: The tournament was held at the municipal ice arena.
Also called ice rinks, though rink more often refers to the ice surface itself.
