A hybrid breed is the offspring of two different breeds, varieties, or species—most often applied to dogs, cats, and other domestic animals.
The term distinguishes intentional crossbreeding from random mixing: a labradoodle is a hybrid breed (Labrador crossed with poodle), while a mutt of unknown parentage is not.
Designer dogs are hybrid breeds developed for specific traits.
