horse stables

Where mounts sleep

Horse stables are buildings where horses are housed, fed, and cared for.

Each horse typically occupies its own stall within the larger structure.

The term often refers to the entire facility including paddocks and riding areas: She keeps her horses at stables outside town.

A stable can also mean the collection of horses belonging to one owner, or by extension, a group of people under common management: a stable of writers.
