holiday bonus
Year-end gift
A holiday bonus is extra money paid to employees around the end of the year, typically near Christmas or other winter holidays.
Unlike performance bonuses, holiday bonuses are often given uniformly as a gesture of appreciation: Everyone got a $500 holiday bonus this year.
Some companies give the same amount annually; others vary it based on profits or tenure.
