hogties

Ties up immobile

Hogties is the verb form of hogtie—to bind someone's hands and feet together, as ranchers do when restraining livestock.

The term extends to any situation where someone is rendered helpless or unable to act: Budget cuts have hogtied the department.

A hogtie is also the binding itself or the restraint position.
