historic Route 66

Chicago-to-LA highway

Historic Route 66 is a former U.S. highway running from Chicago to Los Angeles, established in 1926 and decommissioned in 1985.

Often called "the Mother Road," it became a symbol of westward migration and American car culture.

The route now exists as a nostalgic tourism destination: We drove historic Route 66 through Arizona.
