hip carry
Toddler transport position
Hip carry is a way of holding a child by supporting them on one hip, with the caregiver's arm wrapped around the child's back or bottom.
It's a natural position that allows the carrier to have one hand free: She shifted the toddler to a hip carry so she could open the door.
The term also appears in firearm contexts, referring to a holster position at the hip.
