high press
Forward defensive tactic
A high press is an aggressive defensive strategy in soccer and other team sports where players apply pressure to opponents in their own half, near the goal they're defending.
The aim is to win the ball back quickly before the opposition can build an attack: Liverpool's high press forced a turnover in a dangerous area.
Teams using a high press typically maintain a high defensive line.
