heel spurs
Plantar bone protrusions
Heel spurs are bony growths that develop on the underside of the heel bone, typically where it connects to the plantar fascia.
They form gradually from calcium deposits and are often associated with plantar fasciitis, though many cause no symptoms at all.
When painful, they produce a stabbing sensation in the heel, especially with the first steps of the morning: The doctor said my heel spurs were causing my foot pain.
